Our Story
Rock It Run Club is an empowerment program for youth of all fitness levels. We use running and active games to help teach resilience and self-confidence by transforming traditional running games and drills into powerful life lessons. When children are with us, they are getting a great workout AND building strength of character.
We believe that every child is able to compete and reach goals they once thought were beyond them. Our program has been adapted from a curriculum developed by DashStrØm Run Club in Miami. Hundreds of children have passed through the program, learning and growing stronger through sweat, hard work, and laughter.
The 8 core principles we've put together create a unique and powerful curriculum; one which combines physical health (running skills) with strength of character. Each session has been thoughtfully designed to facilitate a growth mindset. Through the drills and games, the children are reminded that they are strong, powerful, respectful, and empowered to take on an attitude that whether they run it, or walk it, whatever they do - they can rock it!
"Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain unless it is done with play, in which case, it takes between 10-20 repetitions.”
~Dr. Karyn Purvis~

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right."

Coach Melanie, Club Founder
Melanie is the founder and head coach of Rock It Run Club!
Her journey with running began back in 2008 when she signed up for her first race - the Golden Gate 1/2 marathon! She is a strong believer in the huge impact that joyful movement has on the mind, body, and soul.
When life turned upside-down in 2020, Melanie decided to pursue a new adventure that would positively impact her own kiddos and other children in the community through the run club. She currently lives in Chula Vista with her husband and three kiddos (who all share her love of running!) and is working with community sponsors and parents to start Rock It Run Club groups throughout Chula Vista.
Please contact Coach Melanie if you would like to learn more about the program and the possibility of forming a group near you!
Coach Aiden
Hello everyone! I am coach Aiden I am a lead coach alongside Coach Melanie. I attend San Diego City College where am pursuing studies to prepare for physical therapy school.
I started running Cross Country in high school and it really helped me build confidence and believe in myself. I was so inspired by my own coaches that I decided that one day I was going to be a coach myself to help other kids not only find a love for running, but more importantly to help them set goals for themselves and feel empowered. When I learned about Rock it Run Club and what Coach Melanie was doing, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Looking forward to meeting you all in person!
