Upcoming Session- SRPING 2024

April- June 2024

Registration is OPEN for 8-week Spring session (April 2 - June 3)

Parks & Rec with the City of Chula Vista

Ready to Run Program (click here for days, times, & registration info)

Our Ready to Run program uses running and active games to help teach resilience and self-confidence by transforming traditional running games and drills into powerful life lessons.  Each lesson has been thoughtfully designed using 8 core principles to facilitate a growth mindset.  We offer once a week classes on Tuesday or Saturday!

Rock It Tack Club (click here for days, times, & registration info)

Our developmental track-style running class for ages 8-12 builds on our original Rock It Run Club curriculum. Can your child run a mile? Are they looking for more of a challenge? This is the class for them! Elements of this program include more extensive dynamic warmups and a mix of speed, agility & endurance drills as we continue to build on foundational running principles. It includes track style running drills, such as strides and fartleks, and of course we still include time for more running games & relays! Class offered on Tuesdays.

Strength & Endurance Couch to 5K Program (click for days, times, & registration info)

In this program, we will be running with runners ages 11+ who can confidently run a mile or more. Each week when meet, we'll build strength with calisthenics, work on our endurance, and play running games. At the end of this 8-week program, we will celebrate with a 5k! This is a great standalone program, and also a great addition to support skill development in other spots as running is fundamental and an essential part of other sports. We offer 1x a week or 2x a week class options, meeting on Mondays and/or Wednesdays.

Parent & Me Rock It Run Club (click for days, times & registration info)

In this parent and me class, we will have fun playing active running games while introducing growth mindset principles to encourage an 'I CAN DO HARD THINGS!' mentality. We will learn about basic running form and technique, endurance and speed, and strength and flexibility through a variety of running drills. Class offered on Saturday morning.

What are the COVID-19 protocols?

We follow current San Diego County and City of Chula Vista guidelines for COVID 19 safety precautions.

Children are not required to wear a mask while running, although they are welcome to do so if they so wish and are comfortable doing so.

Can I leave during the class session?

Our sessions will start on time and end on time at the set locations. We require that an adult responsible for each child be present at all times and claim their child immediately at the end of the session. For private sessions being held at a residential location, a responsible adult is required to be on-site during the session (in the event that a child needs to use the restroom, for example) and will be responsible for supervising children upon the end of the session.

Do Kids Participate In Races?

While we do not officially participate in local off-site public races as an organization, we do  encourage all kids and their families to participate in local races currently available as often as possible. We post about in-person races on our instagram account as they become available that families may be interested in!
